Taipei Lungshan Temple
Located in Wanhua District of Taipei, Lungshan Temple is one of the most renowned temples in Taipei, in which people worship Guanshiyin Budda and other divine spirits. Wanhua District is the earliest area in Taipei to be developed in the 18th century, and Lungshan Temple itself has a history of over 260 years!
The god of marriage, also known as “the old man under the moon”, in Lungshan Temple is said to be really “effective”. A lot of young men and women go to Lungshan Temple to wish for a good match. Xingtian Temple (Hsing Tian Kong)
Xingtian Temple is the most-visited temple in northern Taiwan, attracting upwards of 10,000 visitors a day. Generally, people who are in search of a nice job or career-related purposes go to Xingtian Temple for worship.
The temple is unique in that it does not allow worshippers to burn “spirit money” or make offerings. There are also no donation boxes or opera performances, and no commercial activity is allowed. Under these regulations, Taipei is trying to make Xingtian Temple a modern and environmental-friendly place for visitors to make wishes.

Taipei Confucius Temple
Taipei Confucius Temple is modeled after the original Confucius Temple in Qufu, China. Among all the Confucius temples in Taiwan, this one in Taipei is the only one adorned with southern Fujian-style ceramic applique. At the main hall of the temple, one can see a black plaque with gold lettering that reads “Educate without Discrimination”, this is the most famous quote of Confucius’.
Every year on September 28, a grand ceremony with traditional music and stylized dancing is held at the temple in honor of Confucius. If you are traveling to Taipei around the end of September, don’t miss the grand ceremony, which can be a lifetime experience!

Taipei Xiahai City God Temple
Sitting in the middle of Datong District, Taipei Xiahai City God Temple is one of the busiest places of worship in the city. The century-old Xiahai City God Temple is host to statues of the City God, his wife, the Chinese Cupid, and 600 other deities.
Same as Xingtian Temple, the god of marriage in Xiahai City God Temple is said to be extremely “effective” as well. Tradition has it that if the statue of Chinese Cupid is standing, he is more eager to find a good marriage for people. The temple, therefore, attracts a lot of singles in search of their significant others.

Taipei Dalongdong Baoan Temple
Baoan Temple is devoted to the worshipping of Baosheng Dadi “Great Emperor Protecting Life”. Built in 1865 by the immigrants from Tongan and Fujian, “Baoan” also means “Blessed Tongan” in Chinese.
Renowned for its decorative arts, Dalongdong Baoan Temple preserves in its halls a collection of woodwork, murals, and Koji ceramics created by the Taiwanese masters of its time. Moreover, Baoan Temple received the UNESCO Asia-Pacific Award for Cultural Heritage Conservation in 2003, as the only temple in Taiwan to receive the honor.

Ciyou Temple
Built in 1753, Ciyou Temple is dedicated to the deity Black Faced Mazu. Legend says that the temple was built by a traveling monk who joined forces with a group of Mazu followers, and together they spent 10 years raising enough money to fund the project.
The temple is square, rises six floors and has an impressive main hall. The roof ridge is elaborately adorned with twin dragons facing three immortals representing wealth, happiness and longevity — a motif symbolizing divine protection.

Qingshan Temple
Located in Wanhua District, Qingshan Temple is an elegant structure built to honor the god, Qingshan Wang. Although Qingshan Temple is not as famous as the neighboring Lungshan Temple, the elaborated decorations, the stone carvings, and the striking ceilings still make it worth a visit. The statue of Qingshan Wang is especially outstanding and eye-catching, don’t miss it if you are there!
